What happens in a hypnotherapy session?
If you’ve never experienced hypnotherapy before, you may be wondering what actually happens during a session, and whether it’s right for you.
My approach is built on solution-focused hypnotherapy, which combines elements of positive psychology, neuroscience and hypnosis to help you focus less on what has been going wrong and more on where you want to go next.
Hypnotherapy sessions are generally relaxed, conversational and focused on the future, lasting about an hour in total.
We’ll spend some time talking about your progress, noticing what is already working, and identifying small, achievable steps towards your preferred future.
We’ll then move into the trance part of the session.
Despite what you may have seen in films or on television, trance isn’t about losing control or being made to do anything against your will. You remain aware throughout and can choose to come out of trance whenever you wish.
The trance is usually a deeply relaxing experience, giving your brain an opportunity to focus on the positive changes you want to make.
Unlike some forms of therapy, the Bright And Light Relaxation Method doesn’t require you to spend sessions reliving difficult experiences or analysing problems in detail. Instead, we focus on your strengths, resources, and goals, helping you move towards the future you want.
By combining modern hypnosis with solution-focused therapeutic techniques, sessions help create the mental conditions that allow positive change to happen. Many clients find they feel calmer, more resilient, and better equipped to cope with life’s challenges.
Want to understand why your brain responds the way it does and how you can use that knowledge to make positive changes?
